I have a lead on a L2900 w/FEL, GST, 4wd, Turf tires, and ~1150 hours. The guy's looking for $12K but I can maybe drop that to $11K. The unit looks and sounds good and seller claims it's a good runner. It's from a rental place if that makes any difference.

From everything I've read on this forum the L2900 seems to be a very good little tractor! There is a dealer within 25 miles if parts are needed but he's not the seller.

Good deal, bad deal, OK deal?

Thanks, I appreciate any input and help you can give.

On 11/01/02 I perchased an L2900 GST with FEL with 440 hours for 12K. I looked long and hard for the most tractor I could buy for the money at the time. I think I got a good deal. My tractor should have retailed for about 13.5K. As far as the tractor is concerned I am elated with it's performance. Being it is a rental and a year later than my purchase I would try to negotiate a lower price. I would take a close look at tranny noise. The price of a used tractor has alot to do with other brand tractors of similar size for sale at the same time, not just Kubotas. Kubotas are hard to hurt. I would say it's price is about right. ....

Not to be a downer, but:

1. rental hours are hard hours on cars on tracors they have to be horrible. Think about it people rented this thing by the hour or day to get jobs done, ouchh!
2. 1100 hours is equal many years of use for a homeowner that you will be in effect losing
3. no warranty or shorter warranty.
4. are you finacing? If you are it will be a higher %
5. it's winter, many dealers have good deals on new machines
6. how much are you really saving?
7. if you want used, get a non-rental machine

I would not spend 11 or 12k on a used rental machine with 1100 hours(or anywhere near that)when I could get a new similar machine for 14k.

JMHO ....

I agree with what's been said here as I'm selling one owner units that are comparable for the same type of money. The new replacement value is closer to the 18000 dollar mark for the new ones but the older models don't have all the features of the new ones either. You could buy one equipped about the same for about 16000. There area not a lot of left overs this year as Kubota was nearly totally sold out beyond manufacturing capabilities this summer with the 0% they offered early on. You might just go to your local dealer as he might even have a story to tell of a rental tractor that might even be the one you area looking at! ....

Many thanks to all. I've had some private emails with Art and especially appreciate his input and wisdom. I wish his place was a little closer, I'd love to do some business with him. Basically I agree with all of you, I think the 12K is steap for what is there.

This just in!! A dealer (wholesaler) just called me and has a new AgraCat 2920 (25hp) 4x4w/FEL and the usual stuff (NO HST but I think I can live with a manual). Look here for more info:
http://www.hersinc.net/Agracat%20Tractors.htm

Price is $8500 at my door. I know this is an "off brand" and I haven't even seen it mentioned anywhere. Anyone know about them. My thinking is that for $4 or $5K I can take some chances. This isn't a pig-in-a-poke, he has one I can test drive and run around the lot in. ....

Check post under "Other".

Thanks to all, decided to go with the new Agracat. Comments were good, price was the best. For that kind of money it was hard to beat.

I'll post some pics when I get the little beast. ....

I have an L2900 GST, about the same year that I have in for repair. Tranny problems, and they say I need a new valve body at the cost of $3000,00 and that it is a non-servicable part. I posted a message to followup on today, hopefully I get somewhere. I'm selling it after it's fixed and checked on prices, which range from 12,000 to 15,000 but this is with loader and backhoe. Mine is at 1300 hours.

Don't get a standard tranny if you can help it, esp. with frontend bucket.
